My "Paul Is Dead" Memory
By: beatlegirl1969

My memory of the "Paul Is Dead" controversy: As anyone who surfed the Gulf as a teen back in the 60s knows, you had your surfers and you had your cowboys, and the two rarely mixed. The night the radio stations broadcast the saga of the "Paul Is Dead" theory was a rare night the two groups (surfers and cowboys) came together as one. We were all down at Sargent beach, everyone was waiting for the broadcast to start, the vehicles were lined up --truck with cowboys, car with surfers parked next to each other, all with their radios blaring - kids standing around all the vehicles. When the broadcast began there was complete silence. All you could hear was the program, the waves crashing in the background and girls crying. An incredible moment and memory.
